Prior to any vehicle being shipped it will
be inspected by one of our AIS inspectors,
based
at our Japanese terminals.
Once the inspection has taken place, AIS guarantees the quality of inspection
by placing a sticker on the windscreen and issuing a corresponding certificate to
the shipper or importer. The AIS odometer inspection process takes the overall
condition of the vehicle, the service/maintenance records, the odometer reading into consideration.
The
vehicle is then put through the Japanese National
Auction Association (NAK) odometer reading database
to verify that the actual mileage of the vehicle
measures up to the other information gather about
the vehicle. This process takes between 9 –
12 minutes. In cases when it is considered that
the odometer has been tampered with illegally,
the odometer is then removed and undergoes a further
inspection to establish its accurattecy and to
find signs of tampering. This secondary process
takes up to 2 hours and comes complete with an
inspection report with photos of the tampering
and comments by the inspector.
AIS is an ISO 9001 approved inspection company, their inspection methods employ the experience and knowledge AIS has gained in its 20 years of vehicle inspections. AIS takes many vehicle condition factors into consideration when conducting its odometer inspection process to give you peace of mind.
The shipper will be immediately notified verbally and in writing if their vehicle has failed an AIS Odometer inspection.
AIS has a customer service office in New Zealand
and therefore any queries can be answered locally.
